Relationship between serum adiponectin and osteoprotegerin levels and coronary heart disease severity

H. L. Zhang and Jin, X., Relationship between serum adiponectin and osteoprotegerin levels and coronary heart disease severity, vol. 14, pp. 11023-11029, 2015.

This study aimed to explore serum adiponectin and osteoprotegerin levels in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and their correlation with inflammatory and ischemia factors. From September 2010 to Augest 2010, 347 CHD patients were enrolled for a retrospective analysis. Serum lipoprotein phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), ischemia modified albumin (IMA), and adiponectin and osteoprotegerin levels were detected and analyzed.

Role of APN and TNF-α in type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

X. Lin, Zhang, Z., Chen, J. M., Xu, Y. Y., Ye, H. R., Cui, J., Fang, Y., Jin, Y., Zhu, D. R., and Yuan, L., Role of APN and TNF-α in type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, vol. 14, pp. 2940-2946, 2015.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic liver disease caused by non-excessive alcohol consumption and is the most common cause of elevated levels of serum liver enzymes. We examined changes in adiponectin (APN) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated by NAFLD and their relationships with insulin resistance (IR). Forty-two T2DM, 39 NAFLD, and 45 T2DM complicated with NAFLD (complicated group) patients were enrolled in this study.

Study of the correlation between growth hormone deficiency and serum leptin, adiponectin, and visfatin levels in adults

Z. - P. Li, Zhang, M., Gao, J., Zhou, G. - Y., Li, S. - Q., and An, Z. - M., Study of the correlation between growth hormone deficiency and serum leptin, adiponectin, and visfatin levels in adults, vol. 13, pp. 4050-4056, 2014.

We aimed to determine the significance and changes in leptin, adiponectin (ADP), and visfatin levels in adults with growth hormone deficiency (GHD). Forty adults (19 men, 21 women) who had been diagnosed with GHD comprised the observation group, while 36 healthy adults (18 men, 18 women) were used as the control group. Fasting venous blood was collected to detect leptin, ADP, and visfatin levels. There was no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05) between the GHD group and the control group in terms of gender ratio, age, and body mass index.

β3-adrenergic receptor polymorphism is related to cardiometabolic risk factors in obese Brazilian subjects

V. A. Genelhu, Francischetti, E. A., Duarte, S. F. P., Celoria, B. M. J., Oliveira, R. C., Cabello, P. H., and Pimentel, M. M. G., β3-adrenergic receptor polymorphism is related to cardiometabolic risk factors in obese Brazilian subjects, vol. 9, pp. 1392-1397, 2010.

We determined whether ADRβ3 polymorphism is associated with obesity-related traits in 140 obese patients. Molecular analysis was performed by PCR and RFLP. Individuals carrying the Arg64 allele had a lower waist-to-hip ratio, higher adiponectin and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, and a tendency towards lower blood pressure. In contrast, Trp64/Trp64 carriers were at greater risk for dysmetabolic phenotypes (odds ratio = 2.88, P = 0.03).
