The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between adiponectin (ADPN) and hemorrhagic shock (HS) and the recovery after HS. This is significant for further understanding of the pathophysiological processes of HS and the development of better treatments. In total, 72 male C57BL/6 mice were assigned randomly to three groups: control, HS, and recovery (N = 24). The HS mouse model was constructed by hemorrhage of the carotid artery and recovery was achieved by tail vein injection of Ringer’s solution.

Effects of flurbiprofen axetil on postoperative serum IL-2 and IL-6 levels in patients with colorectal cancer

We explored the effects of flurbiprofen axetil on interleukin (IL)-2 and IL-6 levels in postoperative patients with colorectal cancer. A total of 120 patients (American Society of Anesthesiologists I and II) scheduled to undergo colorectal cancer surgery were randomly divided into 3 groups (N = 40 in each group): flurbiprofen axetil group (group F), morphine group (group M), and tramadol group (group T). Group M received 0.1 mg/kg morphine, group T received 1.5 mg/kg tramadol, and group F received 1.5 mg/kg flurbiprofen axetil.

Relationship between UV-irradiated HaCaT cell cytokines and Th1/Th2 imbalance

H. Y. Li, Zhang, F. R., and Deng, D. Q., Relationship between UV-irradiated HaCaT cell cytokines and Th1/Th2 imbalance, vol. 14, pp. 7976-7985, 2015.

We have previously found that an imbalance of Tc1/Tc2 T cell subtypes in vivo impacts the development of photodermatitis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between cytokines derived from keratinocytes exposure to UV and the imbalance of Th subgroups. We used different doses of UVA and UVB to irradiate HaCaT cells. Twelve hours after irradiation, the expression of IL-10R, IL-4R, IL-12R, and IFN-γR proteins was observed using the S-P method, and the percentage of positive cells calculated.

Effect of continuous infusion of midazolam on immune function in pediatric patients after surgery

H. B. Lu, Jia, Y. P., Liang, Z. H., Zhou, R., and Zheng, J. Q., Effect of continuous infusion of midazolam on immune function in pediatric patients after surgery, vol. 14, pp. 10007-10014, 2015.

The current study was performed to investigate the effects of midazolam on immune function in pediatric patients after surgery and possible mechanism involved. Patients who needed sedation for more than 2 consecutive days after undergoing surgery in the Pediatric Surgery Department of our hospital were enrolled for the study. Fifty-six patients (5-14 years old) were randomly divided into midazolam and propofol treatment groups (N = 28 each in each group).
