Molecular characterization and tissue expression profile of porcine Ephrin-B2

D. Xu, Ma, H. M., Xu, D., and Ma, H. M., Molecular characterization and tissue expression profile of porcine Ephrin-B2, vol. 15, p. -, 2016.

Ephrin-B2 (EFNB2) is a signaling molecule that plays an important role in cell adhesion, proliferation, and migration in humans. However, little is known about this molecule in pigs. In order to investigate whether EFNB2 is associated with the skeletal muscle in pigs, we cloned the full-length cDNA of EFNB2 (GenBank accession No. KF500033) from the longissimus dorsi muscle of Yorkshire pigs by rapid amplification of cDNA ends.

Molecular characterization, tissue expression profile, and SNP analysis of porcine SLC13A5

L. Y. Wang, Jiang, J., and Ma, H. M., Molecular characterization, tissue expression profile, and SNP analysis of porcine SLC13A5, vol. 14, pp. 16090-16101, 2015.

Solute carrier family 13 (sodium-dependent citrate transporter member 5, SLC13A5) gene has been recently found to play an important role in intramuscular fat content in pigs. In this study, the full-length cDNA of porcine SLC13A5 was obtained from the longissimus dorsi muscle of Shaziling pigs, using the rapid amplification of cDNA ends technique. Full-length porcine SLC13A5 cDNA was 2118 bp, with a 1665-bp open reading frame encoding 554 amino acids.

Characterization and functional analysis of a chitin synthase gene (HcCS1) identified from the freshwater pearlmussel Hyriopsis cumingii

H. F. Zheng, Bai, Z. Y., Lin, J. Y., Wang, G. L., and Li, J. L., Characterization and functional analysis of a chitin synthase gene (HcCS1) identified from the freshwater pearlmussel Hyriopsis cumingii, vol. 14, pp. 19264-19274, 2015.

The triangle sail mussel, Hyriopsis cumingii, is the most important freshwater pearl mussel in China. However, the mechanisms underlying its chitin-mediated shell and nacre formation remain largely unknown. Here, we characterized a chitin synthase (CS) gene (HcCS1) in H. cumingii, and analyzed its possible physiological function. The complete ORF sequence of HcCS1 contained 6903 bp, encoding a 2300-amino acid protein (theoretical molecular mass = 264 kDa; isoelectric point = 6.22), and no putative signal peptide was predicted.

Characterization and expression analysis of microRNAs in Qira black sheep and Hetian sheep ovaries using Solexa sequencing

H. Shen, Chen, H. Y., Jia, B., Han, G. H., Zhang, Y. S., and Zeng, X. C., Characterization and expression analysis of microRNAs in Qira black sheep and Hetian sheep ovaries using Solexa sequencing, vol. 14, pp. 7356-7367, 2015.

The role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the regulation of mammalian reproduction has been demonstrated previously. However, only a few studies have assessed the role of miRNAs in the reproduction processes of sheep. The elucidation of miRNA expression profiles in the ovaries of different sheep breeds representing fecundity extremes will be useful in understanding the roles of miRNAs in sheep reproduction.
