Structure and polymorphism of novel X-chromosome short tandem repeat loci in a Chinese Han population

Y. S. Zhu, Wu, H., and Lai, J. H., Structure and polymorphism of novel X-chromosome short tandem repeat loci in a Chinese Han population, vol. 14, pp. 15044-15049, 2015.

Recently, 5 novel X-chromosome short tandem repeat (X-STR) loci with high degrees of polymorphism were examined. In this study, we investigated the genetic distribution of these loci in a Chinese Han population. The 5 X-STR loci were successfully examined by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in a total of 200 unrelated Shaanxi Han individuals (100 males and 100 females).

Genetic analysis of STR markers on chromosome 21 in a Han population from southeast China

Y. N. Zhu, Lu, S. M., Wang, M., Shen, F. X., Chen, Y., and Hu, J. J., Genetic analysis of STR markers on chromosome 21 in a Han population from southeast China, vol. 14, pp. 1718-1725, 2015.

Short tandem repeats (STRs) are highly polymorphic sequences and have been extensively used as genetic markers in mapping studies, disease diagnosis, and human identity testing. In this study, 11 STR markers on chromosome 21, including D21S1432, D21S11, D21S1246, D21S1412, D21S1437, D21S1442, D21S2039, D21S1270, D21S1435, D21S1409, and D21S1446, were analyzed in 740 unrelated Han individuals from southeast China. A total of 132 alleles, ranging from 7-21 for each locus, were named according to the guidelines of the International Society for Forensic Haemogenetics.

Association of eNOS gene polymorphisms with essential hypertension in the Han population in southwestern China

J. Li, Cun, Y., Tang, W. R., Wang, Y., Li, S. N., Ouyang, H. R., Wu, Y. R., Yu, H. J., and Xiao, C. J., Association of eNOS gene polymorphisms with essential hypertension in the Han population in southwestern China, vol. 10, pp. 2202-2212, 2011.

Endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) plays an important role in maintaining blood pressure homeostasis and vascular integrity. Polymorphisms in the eNOS gene have been found to be associated with hypertension in different human populations, including Northern and Southern Chinese Han populations.
