INTRODUCTION

Fast, effective recovery of the coronary blood flow, after myocardial ischemia, is an effective method to treat this ischemia. However, myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) can aggravate ischemia-induced cardiac dysfunction and myocardial cell damage, leading to intracellular calcium overload, apoptosis, and inflammation. Therefore, clarifying its mechanism is important for the prevention of myocardial I/R injury.

This case-control study aimed to investigate the role of -251 T>A (rs4073) and -781 C>T (rs2227306) polymorphisms in the interleukin-8 (IL-8) gene in the development of glioma in a Chinese population. One hundred and twenty-seven glioma patients and 284 healthy control subjects were recruited to this study between February 2013 and December 2014. The IL-8 -251 T>A (rs4073) and -781 C>T (rs2227306) polymorphisms were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction coupled with restriction fragment length polymorphism.

Association of cytokine gene polymorphisms with susceptibility to invasive candidiasis

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of cytokine genes in the susceptibility to Candida infection. A total of 275 consecutive patients diagnosed with Candida infection were selected between May 2010 and May 2011, along with 305 uninfected controls. Genotyping of the IL-1β gene polymorphisms (IL1β) rs1143634, IL1βrs16944, IL8 rs4073, IL10 rs1800872, and IL10 rs1800896 was carried out using a 384-well plate format on the Sequenom MassARRAY platform.

We examined the relationship among the multidrug resistance (MDR1) gene product P-glycoprotein (P-gp), ulcerative colitis, and immune status under ulcerative colitis. MDR1 P-gp expression and interleukin-8 levels in ulcerative colitis were determined using immunohistochemistry and a double-antibody sandwich avidin-biotin complex-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively.

Interkeukin-8 (IL-8) is an important inflammatory mediator. It is an angiogenic factor associated with inflammation and carcinogenesis. To date, research on IL-8 has been limited to its role as an indicator of inflammation. There has been no systematic research concerning IL-8 expression levels in the mouse mammary gland during pregnancy and lactation. Mouse mammary gland samples were collected on days 1, 6, 12, 18 of pregnancy and of lactation (6 mice per group). The expression levels of IL-8 mRNA were measured by semi-quantitative RT-PCR, with GAPDH as an internal control.
