The aim of this study was to observe the effect of interleukin (IL)-17 on early immune response and inflammation in the lungs of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-infected mice. Specific pathogen-free BALB/c mice were randomly assigned to control, RSV-infected, RSV-infected with phosphate-buffered saline, and RSV-infected + IL-17 intervention groups. The RSV infection model was set up by nasal mucosa immunization. The intervention group was provided with restructured IL-17 (intranasal).

Regulation network of serum cytokines induced by tuberculosis-specific antigens reveals biomarkers for tuberculosis diagnosis

M. Wei, Wu, Z. Y., Lin, J. H., Li, Y., Qian, Z. X., Xie, Y. Q., Su, H., and Zhou, W., Regulation network of serum cytokines induced by tuberculosis-specific antigens reveals biomarkers for tuberculosis diagnosis, vol. 14, pp. 17182-17192, 2015.

In this study, we identified potential serum biomarkers for the diagnosis of active tuberculosis (TB) and screening for latent TB infections (LTBIs). Peripheral blood samples from 40 healthy individuals, 40 patients with TB, and 40 LTBI individuals were stimulated with the TB-specific antigens ESAT-6 and CFP-10. Human inflammatory cytokine arrays were used to detect the expression of inflammatory cytokines. Cytokines with significant changes were screened to construct a cytokine regulation network.
