We conducted a hospital-based case-control study to assess the association between IL-10-592 A/C, IL-10-819 C/T, and IL-10-1082 A/G polymorphisms and the risk of liver cirrhosis in a Chinese population. This 1:1-matched case-control study included 192 patients from the Chinese PLA General Hospital. Genotypes of IL-10-592 A/C, IL-10-819 C/T, and IL-10-1082 A/G were detected by polymerase chain reaction amplification-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis.

Association of the interleukin-28B gene polymorphism with development of hepatitis virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cirrhosis: a meta-analysis

G. J. Suo and Zhao, Z. X., Association of the interleukin-28B gene polymorphism with development of hepatitis virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cirrhosis: a meta-analysis, vol. 12, pp. 3708-3717, 2013.

We examined the association of the interleukin-28B (IL-28B) gene rs12979860 T/C polymorphism with development of hepatitis virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver cirrhosis (LC). Two investigators independently searched the PubMed, Elsevier, EMBASE, Web of Science, Wiley Online Library, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure data bases.

Lack of an association between -308G>A polymorphism of the TNF-α gene and liver cirrhosis risk based on a meta-analysis

D. Chen, Liu, J. L., Liu, Y., Zhu, J., and Wang, S. W., Lack of an association between -308G>A polymorphism of the TNF-α gene and liver cirrhosis risk based on a meta-analysis, vol. 10, pp. 2765-2774, 2011.

TNF-α is a potential proinflammatory cytokine that plays an important role in the pathogenesis of liver cirrhosis. We investigated a possible association between TNF-α -308G>A polymorphism and liver cirrhosis risk by conducting a meta-analysis. Publications addressing the association between TNF-α -308G>A and liver cirrhosis risk were selected from the Pubmed and Embase databases. Data were extracted from the studies by two independent reviewers; odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated from these data.
