Method for obtaining high-resolution proteomic analysis from pericarps of guarana

A. L. Souza, Angelo, P. C. S., Nogueira, P. P. O., Gonçalves, J. F. C., Franco, A. M., Astolfi-Filho, S., López-Lozano, J. L., and Andrade, E. V., Method for obtaining high-resolution proteomic analysis from pericarps of guarana, vol. 13, pp. 8014-8024, 2014.

Guarana has great agricultural potential and is largely used therapeutically and in the production of non-alcoholic energy drinks. Genomic and proteomic studies are crucial to identify proteins that play central roles in the maintenance and viability of fruits, as well as to identify proteins related to the main metabolic pathways. However, the success of any protein analysis starts with the protein extract preparation, which needs to offer an extract that is free of contaminants.

A generic plant RNA isolation method suitable for RNA-Seq and suppression subtractive hybridization

Y. Q. Zhu, Wu, W. J., Xiao, H. W., Chen, H. B., Zheng, Y., Zhang, Y. J., .X.Wang, H., and Huang, L. Q., A generic plant RNA isolation method suitable for RNA-Seq and suppression subtractive hybridization, vol. 12, pp. 5537-5546, 2013.

A recently developed revolutionary approach to transcriptomics, RNA-Seq, and suppression subtractive hybridization are powerful tools for gene expression research. However, currently, the difficulty of isolating high-quality RNAs from plant tissues bearing abundant complex polysaccharides, polyphenolics, and secondary metabolites is a serious problem that not only limits the application of these technologies but also hinders studies dealing with RNA in general.

Isolation of retro-transcribed RNA from in vitro Mycosphaerella fijiensis-infected banana leaves

C. M. Rodríguez-García, Peraza-Echeverría, L., Islas-Flores, I. R., Canto-Canché, B. B., and Grijalva-Arango, R., Isolation of retro-transcribed RNA from in vitro Mycosphaerella fijiensis-infected banana leaves, vol. 9, pp. 1460-1468, 2010.

High polyphenol and polysaccharide levels in plant tissues such as banana fruit and leaves constitute a significant challenge to the extraction of sufficient amounts of high-quality RNA required for cDNA library synthesis and molecular analysis.
