Associations between tumor necrosis factor-α polymorphisms and susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis: meta-analysis

Y. H. Lee and Song, G. G., Associations between tumor necrosis factor-α polymorphisms and susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis: meta-analysis, vol. 14, pp. 8602-8612, 2015.

The aim of this study was to determine whether tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) polymorphisms are associated with susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) in different ethnic populations. MEDLINE and Embase databases and manual searches were employed to identify articles in which TNF-α polymorphisms were determined in patients with PTB and controls. A meta-analysis was conducted on the associations of the TNF-α -308A/G, -238A/G, and -857T/C polymorphisms with PTB susceptibility.

Associations between TNF-α polymorphisms and susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis and vitiligo: a meta-analysis

Y. H. Lee and Bae, S. C., Associations between TNF-α polymorphisms and susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis and vitiligo: a meta-analysis, vol. 14, pp. 5548-5559, 2015.

We investigated whether the tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-α) promoter -238 A/G and -308 A/G polymorphisms are associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and vitiligo susceptibility. MEDLINE and EMBASE databases and a manual search were used to identify articles in which TNF-α polymorphisms were determined in RA or vitiligo patients and controls. Meta-analysis was used to examine the associations between the TNF-α -238 A/G polymorphism and RA and vitiligo using the allelic contrast and dominant models.

Tumor necrosis factor receptor-II nt587 polymorphism in Chinese Han patients with ankylosing spondylitis

X. Li, Wang, M., Ma, R., Zhang, T., Liu, J., Chen, J. W., and Peng, W., Tumor necrosis factor receptor-II nt587 polymorphism in Chinese Han patients with ankylosing spondylitis, vol. 13, pp. 5190-5198, 2014.

We aimed to explore the association between the onset of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and nt587 polymorphisms of the tumor necrosis factor receptor II (TNFRII) gene in the Han population of Hunan Province, China. Correlation analysis was performed in a case-control study involving 100 AS cases and 100 healthy controls. The nt587 single nucleotide polymorphism of the TNFRII gene was examined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism.

Tumor necrosis factor-α and -β genetic polymorphisms as a risk factor in Saudi patients with vitiligo

F. Al-Harthi, Zouman, A., Arfin, M., Tariq, M., and Al-Asmari, A., Tumor necrosis factor-α and -β genetic polymorphisms as a risk factor in Saudi patients with vitiligo, vol. 12, pp. 2196-2204, 2013.

Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentary disorder of the skin, characterized by multiple susceptibility loci and genetic heterogeneity. The etiology of vitiligo is unknown but several hypotheses, including an autoimmune origin, have been proposed. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, a pleiotropic proinflammatory cytokine, has been shown to play a critical role in several autoimmune diseases including vitiligo. The aim of present study was to determine the association of TNF-α and -β gene polymorphisms with vitiligo in Saudi patients.

Impact of cold ischemia on cytokines after partial liver transplantation in rats

Q. - A. Qi, Yang, Z. - Y., Ma, K. - S., Lu, Q., Wang, S. - G., Li, X. - W., Xia, F., Liu, W., and Bie, P., Impact of cold ischemia on cytokines after partial liver transplantation in rats, vol. 12, pp. 4003-4008, 2013.

To study the impact of cold ischemia on tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) expression after liver transplantation, a stable model of partial liver transplantation in rats was established. The experimental animals were divided into the following groups: a partial hepatectomy control group, a group that received partial liver transplantation after 30 min of cold ischemia (experimental group A), and a group that received a partial liver transplantation after 10 h of cold ischemia (experimental group B). The survival rate was observed in each group.

Lack of an association between -308G>A polymorphism of the TNF-α gene and liver cirrhosis risk based on a meta-analysis

D. Chen, Liu, J. L., Liu, Y., Zhu, J., and Wang, S. W., Lack of an association between -308G>A polymorphism of the TNF-α gene and liver cirrhosis risk based on a meta-analysis, vol. 10, pp. 2765-2774, 2011.

TNF-α is a potential proinflammatory cytokine that plays an important role in the pathogenesis of liver cirrhosis. We investigated a possible association between TNF-α -308G>A polymorphism and liver cirrhosis risk by conducting a meta-analysis. Publications addressing the association between TNF-α -308G>A and liver cirrhosis risk were selected from the Pubmed and Embase databases. Data were extracted from the studies by two independent reviewers; odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated from these data.
